What Are the Most Common STDs In Men?

Posted on Feb 10, 2019 in Blog | No Comments

Men, have you visited your local Laguna Beach walk-in STD clinic lately?  If you are sexually active, you certainly should.  Testing for sexually transmitted diseases is quick, easy, and inexpensive.  Even if you aren’t experiencing any symptoms, it’s good to have the peace of mind that comes from knowing you aren’t diseased or exposing your partners to disease.

However, if you are experiencing symptoms, it’s vital to visit a walk-in STD treatment clinic in Laguna Beach as soon as possible.  STDs don’t go away on their own; they only get worse.  Know the common symptoms of male STDs, so you can respond quickly!

Recognize the Symptoms of These Common Male STDs

  1. Chlamydia and Gonorrhea

Chlamydia and gonorrhea are two extremely common bacterial STDs, which both produce nearly identical symptoms.  In many cases, a lab test will be needed to determine which a patient has.  They typically infect the penis but can also infect the mouth or anus as well.

Their symptoms are:

  • Painful urination
  • Swelling of the testes, with or without pain
  • Discharge from the penis, usually white or green in color
  1. Hepatitis B

Hep-B is one of the most dangerous STDs because it does not infect the genitals or other sexual body parts.  Instead, it attacks the liver – and can potentially cause deadly harm.  Symptoms include:

  • Jaundice
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Joint or muscle pains
  • Fever
  • Loss of appetite
  1. Herpes

Herpes is a sexually-transmitted virus, and as such, is a life-long affliction.  Herpes causes painful or itchy blisters to appear in the affected area – which is usually either the penis, anus, or mouth.  Herpes may also, in some cases, cause muscle soreness in the lower back and legs.

Medicines can help control the symptoms.

  1. Human Papillomavirus (HPV)

HPV is an STD which can cause warts in the affected area, usually either the genitals or the mouth.  In worst case scenarios, HPV can potentially lead to cancer – although this is relatively rare.  Fortunately, unlike most STDs, there is a vaccination for HPV which your Laguna Beach STD clinic should be able to provide.
